Turkey Stuffed Onions

6 large red Italian onions


2 slices bacon, diced

1 cup finely minced, cooked turkey

1 egg, slightly beaten

1/2 cup herb-seasoned bread stuffing

2 tbs water

1 tsp salt

dash of pepper

1.  Peel onion and cut slice off tops. Boil onions in salted water for 30 minutes.

2.  Cut out centers to make shells about 1/2 inch thick and sprinkles insides with salt.

3.  Chop enough of centers to make 1/2 cup. Fry bacon and saute chopped onion in bacon fat until they turn a little brown.

4.  Combine minced turkey, egg, bread stuffing, water, salt, pepper, sauteed onion and diced bacon.

5.  Stuff onions and place them in a baking dish with a small amount of water.

6.  Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes.
