1 cup roasted and salted hazelnuts, chopped

3/4 cup nutella

1 tbsp shortening

2 tsp ground ancho chile pepper

1/2 tsp instant espresso coffee powder

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1.  Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Remove all unpopped kernels from popped popcorn. Place popcorn and raw hazelnuts into a 17x12x2-inch roasting pan. Keep warm in oven while preparing caramel.

2.  In a small saucepan combine Nutella, shortening, chipotle chile pepper, coffee powder, and cinnamon. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted and smooth.

3.  Drizzle chocolate mixture over popcorn mixture; toss gently to coat. Toss in Let stand at room temperature or in the refrigerator until set. Break mixture into clusters. Spoon into bowls and serve.

Cooks' note:
NOTE: To roast raw chopped hazelnuts, in a 15x10x1-inch baking pan combine 1 cup raw hazelnuts, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and 1/2 teaspoon salt; toss gently to coat. Spread hazelnuts in a single layer. Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through baking.

Place popcorn in an airtight container; cover. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week.
