Puff Pastry Rectangles

The baked rectangles are cut in half crosswise, and ingredients are placed over the bottom half of the rectangle, while the other half serves as a lid. You can make puff pastry rectangles any size you like. They're especially good with asparagus.

2 cups flour

2/3 cup cold water

1 whole egg (beaten)

1.  Roll out a sheet of dough and trim the edges. Cut the dough into rectangles and brush them with egg wash.

2.  When the rectangles come out of the oven, cut them in half crosswise.
