1.  Chopped the shallots very fine and combine with the red wine in a heavy skillet.

2.  Place the sausage in the wine bring to a boil.

3.  Lower the heat and simmer, turning several times, for 35-40 minutes or until the sausage is nicely glazed in the wine bath.

4.  Slice and serve with the juices in a pan and a hot potato salad as a first course for 6.

5.  For a luncheon dish, allow 2 sausages for 6 persons. The sausage keeps and is very delicious cold.
