A classic comfort food that everyone loves! Serve with mashed potatoes and corn or baked beans.




ingredients

2 lbs ground beef or turkey

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 chopped onion

1 chopped bell pepper

2 tsp olive oil

1 egg, beaten

1 cup bread crumbs

2 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Topping:

2/3 cup ketchup

4 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp yellow mustard

preparation

1.  Cook the onions and peppers in the olive oil until softened, then mix remaining ingredients together except for the ground beef or turkey.

2.  Add the meat and mix well (with hands or wooden spoon) but don’t over mix, and place on a cookie sheet or broiler pan lined with foil, which makes for easy clean up. Shape into a loaf.

3.  Mix ingredients for topping and spread on loaf. Bake for 1 hour at 375F.

Cooks' note:
If desired, chopped mushrooms can be added to this (I would add about 4 oz.)
