preparation

1.  Coat the bottom of a large kettle with olive oil and saute the chopped onion and garlic.

2.  Throw in the washed clams, then the wine, thyme, bread crumbs and the chili pepper.

3.  Cover and steam until all the shells have opened.

4.  Serve in bowls with the clam nectar and with some melted butter for the dipping.
