Chocolate Chip Cookies (A healthier version!)

A healthier take on the classic chocolate chip cookie.

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

5 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 cup of dark brown sugar packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg

1/2 cup of semisweet chocolate chips

1.  Preheat the oven to 375F.

2.  Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

3.  Whisk the flour, salt, and baking soda together in a bowl.

4.  Melt 3 tbsp of butter in an 8 inch skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-5 minutes or until the butter is golden brown and has a nutty aroma.

5.  Transfer the browned butter to a large bowl and stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until completely melted.

6.  Whisk the sugars and vanilla into the melted butter.

7.  Whisk in the egg until the mixture is smooth. Let the mixture stand for 3 minutes, then whisk vigorously for 30 seconds. Repeat the process of resting and mixing 2 more times.

8.  Stir in the flour mixture and chocolate chips.

9.  Make dough balls the size of 1 tablespoon spacing them 2 1/2 inches apart.

10.  Cook for 5-8 minutes.
