Chilly Frites / French fires in Indo Chinese Style

French Fries…. Unavoidable snack for kids, is isn’t it? Imagine how it would be if these yellow coloured French Fries transform in to colourful shining fries in your plate!! Yes, I can very well say that you too will admit and appreciate the amazing change. We can include Chilly Frites as an appetizer or as a main dish or as a starter. Because if we have one plate of Chilly Frites, then there is no need to go for and other dish. Most of us Indians will concede the fact that we search for Chilly Frites in the menu card when we go to restaurants. This is one of my favourite appetizers and I found it and have it regularly after coming to this place. I can admit that slowly I started getting addicted to this dish. So whenever we go to restaurant my husband include this item as a starter even without asking my consent for that.. I have to admit that he is a guy who hates French Fries and I love it.. ? I am indebted to one manager of a restaurant over here to get the recipe of this appetizer. After having this chilly frites several times from the same restaurant in this place, I got the courage to ask the manager of the restaurant to ask for the recipe. With much pleasure he brought a paper and pen and started explaining and scribbling the recipe in to the paper. Hehe.. You know how much happy I was that day while going home with the recipe of my fav one. ? I should say here that I did some google search to get the recipe of this and I failed miserably in my attempt. I seriously doubt if there is any other name for this? Next comes the practical side of making it. I didn’t wait for many days to do it. It’s so great when you can cook the things you crave for!! The next day itself I tried this and thank God it came out awesome, I could say that the best chilly frites I have ever seen in my life both in look and taste!! I was so happy to see my favourite chilly frites in front of me on my own plate in my house, which I myself made!! I decided to do it quite often. I hope almost everyone knows how to make French fries. It can be made effortlessly and quick. I am sure this delicious French fries are loved by all age groups and can be served as snack or appetizer. It’s so easy to make and I know that you people are going to make it soon without any fail. Here goes the recipe of Chilly Frites. Preparation Time: 20 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Serves: 2 Cuisine: Indo Chinese

2 cups Frozen French Fries –

1/2 cup Capsicum (deseeded) –

1/2 cup Carrot (cut it in to coin shapes) –

1/2 cup Onion (cut in to squares) –

2 cloves Garlic (crushed) – (medium sized)

2 tbsp Scallions – (diced)

1/2 Soya Sauce – tbsp.

1 Chilly Powder – tsp.

1/8 Cumin Powder (optional) – tsp.

1 pinch Ajinomotto (optional) –

Salt – to taste

1/4 Pepper powder – tsp.

2 Olive Oil or vegetable oil – tbsp.

1.  Bake fries in the oven as directed on the package.

2.  Cut veggies as said above and keep it aside.

3.  Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic and sauté on medium high flame.

4.  Add vegetables in sequence of their tenderness –

5.  Then add onion and sauté till onion gets translucent.

6.  Now add capsicum and sauté for another two minutes.

7.  Add carrot and sauté for few minutes.

8.  Add ajinomotto, salt and pepper. Toss it.

9.  Add Soya sauce and mix well. Cook for ½ minute.

10.  Add the baked French fries and toss the contents till it’s well combined.

11.  Remove from fire.

12.  Garnish with spring onion greens.

13.  The delightful Chiily Frites is ready to serve.

14.  Serve it with tomato ketchup, pili pili or mayonnaise
