The most amazing combination of apple pie and caramel cupcake! First you bake the crust in the bottom of the cupcake liners, add a little apple pie filling & top off with caramel cupcake, bake then add cream cheese frosting. HEAVEN!!

2 boxes refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box
1 can apple pie filling, lightly chopped
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/3 cup caramel syrup (recipe below)
1 egg, at room temperature
1/4 cup apple sauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk, at room temperature
For the Caramel Syrup:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup water (to“stop” the caramelization process)
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
4 tablespoons butter
12 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup Caramel Syrup (room temp)
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
2/3 cup confectioners sugar
