Ingredients:

    Mixture ‘A’
  • 250 g cream cheese
  • 60 g castor sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Mixture ‘B’
  • 180 g butter
  • 150 g sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 120 g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

Line an 8" cake pan with grease proof paper

Pre heat oven to 180 deg c

Beat (A) ingredients cream cheese with sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in egg until well incorporated. Set mixture aside.

Mixture "B"

Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in egg, one at a time until well incorporated into mixture.

Sieve all the dried ingredients together.

Fold the flour into the egg mixture, mix well.

To assemble, pour less than half of mixture ‘B’, then all of mixture ‘A’, then remaining mixture ‘B’, (spread the cake mixture with a spatula to cover the cheese mixture.)

Bake in preheat oven at 180 deg C for 45-50 min or until skewer comes out clean.

Once cool, chill in refrigerator.

Cooks' note:
Best to serve chill with a cup of coffee or iced coffee.

Looking at this cake you might think this is a chocolate cake. No,this is not a fully chocolate cake. Can you see there is some marble effect on the dark cake? Just because I overbaked the cake for slightly more than 5 minutes, the cake got almost burnt and this is the result.
